Overview

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion and opening of "The Drey," a landmark £12 million refurbishment project located in the prestigious Earl's Court district of Kensington and Chelsea, London.

This complex 12-month contract involved the meticulous transformation of three existing buildings into a stunning 125 bed, 4-star luxury hotel.

A project of this scale requires exceptional coordination, especially regarding the building's essential services. We were delighted to partner with BSN Electrical and BSN Mechanical, who installed all new M&E systems. This collaborative partnership proved to be absolutely critical in making the project work, ensuring all systems were installed to the highest standard and on schedule.

Challenges

The project was particularly challenging due to the age and heritage of the structures. Being an Edwardian building, the refurbishment demanded extensive and delicate structural works.  A key achievement was the intricate installation of three new lift shafts, which required extremely sensitive management of party wall interactions, which BSN redesigned to reduce potential risk. 

Solutions/ Outcome

The results have been overwhelmingly positive. The client is extremely happy with the finished hotel, a testament to the quality and dedication of our team. This success has already led to further opportunities, with subsequent projects for the client currently being tendered by our business.

Furthermore, the public reception has been phenomenal. The first customer reviews have returned a stellar 5 out of 5 stars, with several guests specifically commenting on the high quality and comfort of the newly refurbished rooms.

This achievement is a clear demonstration of collective excellence. A massive thank you is owed to the entire team. The dedicated site management in London who coordinated the work on the ground, and the support of senior management, buying and accounting departments in the office who provided essential support. It was a great team effort from everyone involved!
